18 Months Old

Hello World!

I'm now 18 months old (well at the time of these pictures anyways!).  Mommy can't believe that I'm already a year and a half old.  But as sad as she might be that I'm getting older fast, she's equally or more excited about the little fun person I'm becoming.

I'm still a little peanut.  She thought I'd take after my sissy and eventually get back on that weight chart.  Not so much.  Still underweight, but I think they've just accepted that's me b/c no one is worried about.  Mommy checked her weight at 18 months at we were only a few ounces different.  So, it must be in the genes!  I am, after all, taking after mommy a good bit!

I talk A LOT.  Well,  actually I should say that I have a lot of words.  More than sissy did at this age - but we're pretty sure that's b/c I hear her talk all. day. long!   Mommy counted and I have close to 100 words.  At my 18 month check up, they asked if I had between 7-10 words.  Mommy said, yes, closer to 100, but at least 7-10!

And I LOVE to sing.  I know the whole songs of ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Row Row Row Your Boat, and I'm learning quite a few others.  Daddy thinks while Mackenzie may be our performer/artist, I may follow in his singer/songwriter footsteps.  Music has always just been so soothing to me (like it is to him).  Mommy keeps saying she needs to sign me up for a music class - she needs to get on that!

I am still a pretty independent kid.  I like to do my own thing and don't need a lot of attention.  This is new to mommy & daddy (sissy likes a lot of attention!).  Lately, mommy has found me wondering back into my room alone, climbing into my rocking chair and "reading" my favorite books all by myself until someone comes and finds me!

I continue to be pretty laid back, but I am starting to show my spirited side.  And when I get mad, I have got some lungs on me (as noticed by some employees at Micheals and Kroger on one particular errand outing!).  It looks like I'm laid back, but no push over :)

And lastly, I still think my sissy is the best thing EVER.  She is soooo cool!  I want to be just like her.  I try to dance like her, put on her shoes and clothes, dress up with her, follow her around with my babies and strollers.  We have so much fun together.  Mommy says it makes having us close together so worth it!  Sissy seems to enjoy having a little sidekick (most of the time) and I like being that sidekick.  We're quite a team!

 Until next time!
-Little Key (Daddy's current name for me!)

Keelyn's Growing Up!

Well, I think I'm pretty much in denial of how close my baby girl is to turning one..... But today, that denial is getting harder & harder to keep up because she started taking her first steps. She had taken one or two last weekend when going between two places to pull up that were very close together. But when I tried to stand her up and reach my arms out to her, she would just lean forward and collapse in my arms. So, I didn't push it too much. But today while we were just hanging out around the house. I noticed at one point she had stood straight up with nothing to hold onto in the middle of the floor - which I thought was interesting that she could balance from a squat to standing on her own. But then she sat back down and crawled. A few minutes later, she was standing up again without anything to hold onto anywhere near her, and she just took about 2 or 3 steps. Then, sat down and crawled. I got my camera all ready to video her & then she hasn't done it again! Probably just a matter of a week or two and she'll be walking all over the house!

Another fun thing she has started to do is mimic us a lot. She likes to talk on the cell phone, brush her hair, give kisses (complete with the "mwa" sound!), and pretend to eat & drink! She is way more into mimicking than I remember Mackenzie being. One funny story is that Brannon was holding her one night while eating nuts out of can. I look over and she is chewing on something & I'm worried she's picked up a nut that he dropped or something. So I do the finger swoop through her mouth and find nothing. So I watch her for a few seconds, and she reaches over to the can like she's grabbing something (but didn't) and then acted like she was putting it in her mouth & chewing! So funny :)

She's started saying a few words. Of course, just like her sissy, she loves to say da-da. She'd been saying it a while, but over the last few weeks, she is definitely associated it with daddy. He'll come home and she'll repeat it loudly & proudly! She also has started to say 'uh-oh', but pronounces it like her sissy did when she was little....'uh-uh'!

She loves to clap & if she hears you saying 'YAY!!', she'll start clapping her hands with this big grin on her face! And when she stands up on her own, we will start saying "YAY!" for her and she just claps and is so proud of herself! She just started waving too & really enjoys being able to wave and see you wave back at her!

One thing that she continues to excel at (and mommy is very happy about!) is that she is really good at playing by herself. She is so content to play with toys and explore a room on her own. I just love this (since I had not experienced this much with her sister - who requires an audience in much of her playtime! Thank heavens that she is slowly getting a permanent audience in her sister in addition to her mommy!).

These pictures are of our baby girl at 10 months. I will have to get myself in gear and get some 11 month pictures soon since she is very (too) close to turning the big 1......

Dear Mackenzie

Where do I start?? I have no idea how we are here already. You are three. Three has always seemed so big to me (though I'm pretty sure next year I'll look back and be telling myself how little you looked at three if history tells me anything!). In some ways it seems so much longer than 3 years because I hardly remember my life before you and we have been through so much in three years and I have grown so much being a mother. But most days, I feel like you just grew up in a blink of an eye. Where did that little tiny baby go?

I love so much about this age. You are now developing your own friendships & are learning to play with friends so well (a far cry from your biting days!). You have such big thoughts and use what seem to me to be big words for a three year old. Tonight a friend visited and enjoyed your talkative self, telling her you wanted to watch another 'episode' after the show you were watching ended. And speaking of talkative. You LOVE to talk. And it always is particularly fun when you talk to anyone and everyone at a store we're at. Yesterday, you brought a pad & pen into a store and were drawing while I shopped. Then, you proceeded to give them to everyone who passed and started up a conversation with them all! These folks enjoyed you, such a precocious little girl!

You are enjoying going to school again this year two days a week. Your teachers said you are doing great! I'm so glad you are enjoying it because a) it gives mommy a little break and b) I like that your getting some formal education because you have very little interest in listening to mommy try to teach you! You'd rather explore on your own it seems. You really do have that independent streak. Sometimes you want to play with friends, other times you like to do your own thing & that's okay and I even think it's good that you are comfortable doing your own thing!

Speaking of doing your own thing.....you truly have an opinion on your clothes these days! You really have an opinion on shoes. You love high heels, sparkly shoes, and anything else really girly/princessy! You have for the past 1/2 year or so, insisted on pretty much wearing only pink dresses! We don't always have one clean, so you do wear others, but if it's clean, you want pink! And if you could, you'd wear your Sleeping Beauty princess dress all the time & everywhere (which I limit you on, and you do not appreciate!). I'm gearing myself up for some clothing battles in years to come......

You are beginning to develop some hobbies. You do ballet/tap and gymnastics at the local community center. And you love it! I can't wait to see how much you have learned at your end of the year performance!

You are becoming such a great big sister. Slowly, as Keelyn is growing, you are starting to play together (or at least playing at the same time in the same room near each other!), and I love to watch that and the beginning of such a great little relationship. You sometimes still smother her with love, but you are learning to obey our cardinal rule......"If she starts screaming, STOP whatever you are doing!". You follow this rule.........sometimes! You have started wanting to comfort her after naptime & love to run into her room and climb into her crib when she wakes up crying! Love. It.

You are a blessing & I pray that I am able to be the parent you need me to be. I can't wait to see where this next year takes us!

Love always,
Mommy

8 Months Old

Hello World!

So, life sure has been busy for my family & me. Apparently, mommy & I completely missed my seven month post, so here's the two month update for you!

I'm still not crawling, but sometimes can get up on all fours. But frankly, I just would rather be held! I do not like being on the floor! Really, my main thing is to work more on standing up. I LOVE to try and stand up, grabbing onto mommy's (or other's) hands and pull myself up to standing. Then, I'm happy as can be as I stand and dance a little and try moving my legs. Mommy has said she wonders if I'll be one of those babies that skip the whole crawling thing. We'll see....... And even now, when I am held in your lap, I don't want to sit down. I want to be held, but be able to stand in your lap!

I've learned to shake my head back & forth, like I'm saying "no". I do it just for fun it seems, not for any real meaning :) I'm cooing alot, with 'da-da-da' and 'ba-ba-ba' mostly and still my favorite - high pitched sqeals and squawks! Sometimes I even like to try and sing along with you while doing my own little yell!

I developed a serious strong attraction to my mommy around the 5th month of my life. I did NOT like anyone else to hold me. ANYONE! Not even daddy! (Mommy said I was wearing her out, but last time I checked, isn't that her job??? To take care of me????) Well, over the past couple of weeks, I'm getting much more laid back in this arena. I still really prefer my mommy, but others are okay too. However, I really only let others hold me if mommy is out of sight/sound! If I can see her/hear her, you better give me to her! But still, progress! As long as mommy is not nearby or gone, I do just fine!

Other big news, is that I'm now taking bottles and have switched over to formula! Mommy never thought she'd see the day that I started taking bottles :) Around 6 months, I started taking pumped bottles from daddy, babysitters, etc (not mommy). Around 7 1/2 months, the doctor really wanted me to start taking formula b/c I just wasn't gaining weight well anymore (off the charts.....) and mommy came home and just made a bottle to see how it went & I just took it! WOW! From then, she started weaning me, and I'm now pretty much on formula, but gaining weight better. She's discovered that I'm a bit of a lazy eater. I only take 2-3 ounces from a lot of my feedings and push it away and wouldn't seem to care if I was totally done (probably what I did while breastfeeding, but no one knew since I seemed satisfied!). But now that she can see how little I've had, she waits 15 or so minutes and tries again and I take one or two more ounces. So. looks like now, I'll be able to start gaining some weight!

Mommy says I'm really at a fun stage - her favorite yet! Not yet crawling, but very interactive and fun to play with......but without all the busy-ness of a moving baby! I love my sister, and find her so funny. I'm on a more predictable schedule with two naps & sleeping through the night about 10, sometimes 11 hours! Good times :)

Well, that's about it for now!

School's Out

Last Thursday was Mackenzie's last day of school this year. It is so hard to believe another year has come & gone. She has grown so much since August. She still looks a bit like a baby in August, not yet 2, and now she is such a little girl.....sigh. (Sorry the recent one is bit blurry, she wouldn't slow down and then finally she did and this is how it turned out! UGH!!)

Dear Mackenzie

Dear Mackenzie,

I wanted to write down some of my thoughts of you at this fun/crazy/frustrating age that you are at. I think I missed writing you a letter when you turned two (something about moving & having a baby got in the way!) but I want to get some thoughts down before you get too much further past 2 1/2.....

You are so smart. Your language amazes me, and I am often surprised by a new word you throw into a conversation. And you want to be talking ALL. THE. TIME. You say, "talk to me Mom!" when you want to make sure I'm paying attention to you! Never a quiet moment, if you have anything to say about it :) You make friends wherever you go. Though still a bit shy around grown men (fine by me!), around most people now, you will just start up a conversation. Just tonight, you talked to/made friends with about 3 kids. One of those kids looked to be about 8! It's so cute & people are always amazed at how well you talk when I tell them you are just 2 1/2. I think you come by it naturally.....both your grandmothers LOVE to talk :)

Some of your favorite things these days are princesses, ballet, and playing 'Mommy'. You love to wear your tiara (you call it your crown) and hold your wand pretty much all day. Sometimes you insist on wearing them wherever we are going that day! You also love to put on your ballet slippers and perform for me. Other times, you wear your fancy high heels like a princess. You love to have me say 'Don't go Mommy' and then you tell me that you have to run errands and will pick me up from school later! Then, you "go shopping" and come back and get me! I love that you always tell me that you missed me :) This is by far your most favorite pretend scenario!

You love your friends & family. You ask about your grandparents & like to call them on the phone (both real & pretend!) and ask when they are coming to visit. You LOVE to go see your friends and do not like to leave them. I overheard you the other day telling your buddy, Mady Kay, that you wanted her to come to your house (after I had said we were leaving in a few minutes). You just couldn't stand to be apart from her, so you were making plans for her to just come home with you! You love your Aunt Natalie & seem to be enjoying the ability to see her much more frequently these days. You even requested a sleepover recently, which Aunt Natalie is getting things set up to have you over soon! And you also love your Uncle Jake & you guys share your love of cartoons made in Japan :) And mostly, you just adore your daddy. You've started to realize that this work thing takes him away from you more than you would like & tell me that you miss your daddy or tell him you don't want him to go to work! We hope one day he won't have to work quite so hard so you won't have to miss him too often!

You truly adore your little sister. One of my favorite things you do when I'm feeding or holding Keelyn, is to come over and put your arm around her and say "Keelyn is a precious baby" or "Keelyn is soooo precious!". That is too precious :) I can tell I'm going to have my hands full with you two, though, because you love her dearly, but you do not love her recent interest in your toys. Oh boy!

I have to say, there are so many great things about this age. But I'd be lying if I didn't also admit, that you are giving me a run for my money. It is a struggle daily to get you to obey and especially to do it without a battle. You will do what I ask usually, but I have to get angry or threaten a consequence, and then you will finally do it most of the time. But sometimes, you test me & I have to follow through. Which I do not enjoy. I've found myself yelling at you more than I want & daily am praying for patience. I know we will get through this stage, and I just have to remind myself of the fun stuff to help me get through some of the frustrations of you learning how to become more independent.....

I can't believe in just a few months, shortly after summer is over, you will be turning three. Three just always seemed so old to me when you were a baby/toddler. At three, I just know you will be turning more & more into a little girl and leaving more & more of your toddlerhood behind. But I know you will keep me entertained along the way & I will love the coming stages just as much or more!

Love,
Mommy

6 Months Old

Hello Everyone!

I am now 6 months old (well 6 1/2, but mommy says she is just perpetually late on everything these days.....). These pictures were actually on time though - I had just turned 6 months old. I'm getting to be such a big girl. I've started trying to sit up, though I can't balance for too long quite yet. I'm also moving my knees up under my stomach and pushing off, but my arms can't hold me up, so I just push up and flop to the side. But I'm showing some interest in getting moving!

Mommy says that she is surprised that she is looking forward to me crawling. She originally hoped I'd be slow to doing all of that (mainly because she thinks keeping a house baby proofed while a two year old is running around seems HARD!!), but thanks to my recent bout of serious separation anxiety where she can't leave a room without me freaking out, she now wishes I could crawl around behind her instead of being constantly attached to her..... What can I say? I know where the good stuff comes from & I'm sticking near to it if I have any control over that!

I've started showing some interest in eating some solids. And by some, I mean, mainly sweet potatoes & bananas. I'm not too fond of the other stuff yet. But at least these are two of the higher calorie foods, which apparently I need because I'm super tiny. The doctor even told mommy to add olive oil to my food! We're hoping for a better weight gain in a month so mommy can relax a little!

I'm slowly letting others besides mommy hold me & feed me & put me to bed. Since I was even having issues with going to daddy, mommy decided that Daddy would do my bath & put me to bed every night that he can to help me realize that other people can do these things too. It's helping a little. I like Daddy & go to sleep pretty easy, but mommy must be out of sight. When she hands me off to Daddy I still get pretty upset. But once she's gone, I accept my Daddy. I've also started taking some milk from a bottle. I can be left with a babysitter without starving. Mommy & Daddy even got to go on a date this weekend while I was at home with sissy & the sitter. And I was fed & asleep when they got home. I think they're pretty happy about that. Not sure why??

Something else Mommy & Daddy like.....I sleep pretty consistently these days. I go to bed around 8:30 and get up around 6:30-7. I've still been getting my dream feed around 11:30, but the doctor told mommy she should try to give that up before I get too used to it. Apparently, I don't need the calories & it's just a comfort thing.....what's wrong with that?? We'll see how that goes.....

A few other fun things. I like to talk & squeal. Mommy calls me 'Squealin' Keelyn' :) I started saying 'da da da da' a couple weeks ago, but haven't said it much since. And, I love to laugh at my crazy sister. She is such an entertainer & loves the attention I give her too. Though I've noticed she doesn't seem too keen on sharing her toys with me lately.....

I guess that's about all for what's goin' on with me these days. Talk to you soon :)

Five Months

Hello World!

Keelyn here. Mom said she better let me go ahead and write my monthly update because I'm already 5 1/2
months & I'll be 6 months before she knows it! I've been having a pretty eventful month. I finally started rolling over consistently from my back to my tummy. I started doing it in my crib just before I was 5 months old, but that was the only time I did it so she couldn't see it. Then, about 5 months &
a week, I started doing it on my playmat & doing it enough that she could video it (I'll get her to put that on here at some point, but she's slow these days!). I did have one day of doing two rolls from tummy back to my back, but haven't done it since. Apparently, my big sissy did this over a month before me. But I don't care, I just prefer to be held than to move myself!

Another big milestone this month, I started getting my
first teeth. My first bottom tooth started breaking
through right after I turned 5 months & my
second bottom tooth is starting to come through starting yesterday. This I'm doing a lot earlier than my sissy. She didn't get her first tooth until she was almost 10 months! We're so different mommy says!

I'm doing a little better with my sleeping. I'm pretty
stubborn about the whole situation though mommy says! She decided while my sister was at grandparents' camp that she'd have more energy and could handle having me cry it out a bit at night since I made it about
half the time til 6 or 7am and half the time I woke up at 4:30-5am. So, she decided after my late night (around 11 or 11:30 pm) feeding that she wouldn't feed me until 6am. So, if I woke up at 4:45am,
she'd let me cry. I was pretty determined. She would come in and roll me back to my back, pat my back, then go back to her room & I'd keep on crying. It took a good 30 minutes. Then, I slept. Then, the next night I slept all the way until 7:30am. She thought we were making headway, but I'm still pretty inconsistent. Some morning 5am. Some morning 7am. And now that I'm teething, that's probably making it even harder. She still tries to wait until 6am to get me, but if I get too mad, she comes to get me. I'm still in control of the situation!

The other fun thing this month is that I am really taking notice of my sister & starting to enjoy her and not be slightly nervous around her. Ever since she came back from grandparents' camp, I've just liked watching her more & more. My biggest belly laughs have come from watching her dance and talk to me. She is fun! I can tell she's gonna keep me quite entertained in the coming months/years!!

Well, I guess that's about it for now!

Love,
Keelyn :)

Keelyn's Four Month Post

Hello World!

I turned 4 months old last week, and life is really cruising along. I'm generally much happier these days, but I have definitely developed a STRONG mommy preference. I can be perfectly happy being held by mommy, but hand me off to anyone (including daddy) and I will voice my displeasure quickly and loudly! Mommy says its a little hard on her, between me not taking a bottle AND wanting only mommy to hold me......I'm becoming a little high maintenance (if I wasn't already!). But she is adjusting she says, by using all sorts of baby carrying devices (sling, bjorn, ergo) and you'll see me happily attached to her hip at many points during the day :) She remembers Mackenzie having a strong attachment around this time too.....and it passed after a few months, so she says she'll try to remember to enjoy it because I won't be little for long!

Speaking of preferences, we've discovered that though I like to be held while I am awake.....I don't really love to be rocked to sleep. Mommy originally felt guilty about not rocking me to sleep like she did alot of with my big sissy. So, she just would put me in my swing when it was time to nap so she could keep managing my sister and I would cry but the swing would eventually soothe me to sleep. Now, she's decided to have me nap in my crib because I was looking awfully uncomfortable in my swing because I was trying to roll over in the swing as I slept. So, she wanted to rock me a little to help clue me in that it was naptime, knowing she wouldn't be able to take the time to rock me all the way to sleep, and then lay me down sleepy
(also the pediatrician recommended this so I would learn to soothe myself). WELL, what do you know...... I scream while she rocks me and then when she lays me down I go right to sleep. So, apparently I like to be held when I'm awake and not held when it's time to sleep. Pretty much the opposite of my big sister! HA! Gotta keep that mommy of mine on her toes :)

Speaking of my big sissy, I'm proving to be a bit slower in the rolling department. By this point, my sister had rolled over from tummy to back & back to tummy. Me....not so much! I did have one fluke roll over while swaddled in my velcro swaddle blanket, but with my arms loose, they get in the way & I don't really have the desire to figure all that out quite yet! Probably just a factor of my personality.....I wanna be held - mommy can take care of all movement for me! My sister, I'm told, wanted to be able to move on her own!

In other news, I'm cooing alot lately, making gurgling sounds, smiling & laughing, and enjoy reaching for my toys. Mommy says it's fun to see all these things again & to watch me start to interact with everyone especially my big sister. Sometimes I even laugh at Mackenzie, which makes her so happy! I can tell we are going to be such good friends. Mommy says she can already tell that Mackenzie is SOOO anxious for me to be able to play with her.

I still am not the best sleeper. Mommy says if I can't get it together, a cry it out session may be in my future....but I'm pretty convinced she's bluffing! My most typical night is to bed at 9ish, wake up at 11ish for a top off feeding, let mommy sleep for about 5-5 1/2 hours, wake up around 5ish, eat, back to sleep til 7ish. Mommy hopes for better sleeping soon, but is managing on this schedule for now..... It's working well for me, not sure what Mommy's problem with that schedule is?!?? Oh, and I pretty much can't stand eating that cereal stuff off of a spoon, so we've got a while before that cereal is in me and helping me sleep longer :p

Well, I guess that's about all I've got for now. See you guys in about a month.....

-Keelyn

During the photo shoot, I was checking out my dog, Skylar.

Then Skylar decided to check me out & give me a kiss on the nose!

3 Months Old!

Hi Everyone!

I recently turned three months old. And I am finally getting adjusted to this big crazy world :) Mommy says she can't believe it, but she thinks that time is going even faster this time than with my big sister. Some of my recent accomplishments include smiling alot & even showing off my first laughs for everyone (they get a big kick out that!). I've also found my hands, but unlike my sister when she discovered hers, I don't look at them at all, I just try to fit them into my mouth :) I've also started showing signs of trying to roll over from my back to my stomach. This surprised mommy, because she so rarely lays me down (something about me crying when she did that!). But even with just starting to be laid down on my playmat & such, I'm already making lots of efforts in that arena. Speaking of crying when laying down, I'm not such a huge fan of this thing called tummy time. If mommy lets me do it on the boppy, then it's alright for a few minutes, but straight on the ground - no thank you! So, guess what, my mommy rarely makes me do it! She doesn't like to hear me cry!! She says that would've bothered her with her first baby, but with me, she knows I'll roll, crawl, walk, when I am ready so she's not too worried about tummy time everyday! Whew!!! There are benefits to being #2 she tells me :)

I'm still not as good of a sleeper as my big sister, mommy says, but she also says that Mackenzie spoiled them in that area, and really I'm not too bad. I slept in my bouncy seat for the first 2+ months of my life. First in their room, then in my crib in the bouncy seat. But once I got my reflux under control & I started sleeping longer, mommy figured I should start sleeping on my back in the crib right before I turned 3 months old. At first she didn't swaddle me, because I didn't like it early on, but after the first night of being woken up at 1:45, 4:45, and 7:45, she gave the swaddle a try for my second night in the crib. Voila! I slept like 7 hours :) And I've been doing pretty good ever since. Mommy says I'm a sporadic sleeper still. About 2-3 nights of sleeping 8-9 hours & then I'll wake up at 3am for a night, and then back to a few nights of sleeping through the night. Just keeping her on her toes!

I'm turning out to be a little peanut, just like my big sister. (Hate to break it to mommy, but it just might be in the gene pool!). She thought I'd be bigger because I started out a 1/2 lb bigger at birth. But nope. Still little. She even scheduled a 3 month weight check, because between 2 & 4 months, my big sister dropped off the weight charts & she wanted to watch it more closely with me since I'm exclusively breastfed. Well, I'm also dropping. Just 10 lbs, 5 oz at my 3 month appointment, that's just 10% (down from 20% at my 2 month). Now, she's a little worried that she's not making enough milk. But I'm a pretty happy baby, always content after eating, so she thinks maybe I'm just a little peanut. But she's taking some pills, drinking some special tea, and pumping alot more to see if that helps by my 4 month appointment. The
thing is that for Mackenzie, she was easy to supplement because she liked a bottle. Me. I DO.NOT. LIKE. A. BOTTLE! Thank you very much. So supplementing me is going to be a tricky thing. We'll see how this goes. I'm sure mommy will keep you posted!

In other news, it looks like I have some sensitive skin. I had started getting these reddish rashes and dry skin a few weeks ago, so she had the doctor look at that too & it seems I have excema. So, I get to get all lathered up in a baby oil substance twice a day! It seems to be helping :) I also still have pretty dark hair, but mommy still thinks that it will lighten up. When looking back at
Mackenzie's 3 month post, she realized that Mackenzie's hair looked reddish at this point and now she is a little toehead. So, alot can change in a year.

Overall, I am becoming a much easier baby. Mommy says in that way I am very similar to my sister. We were not the easiest newborns, pretty fussy, but once we hit 3-4 months, our whole attitude improves! I'm different than my sister though, because when I am awake, I just LOVE to be held. I may be a bit more of a snuggler :)

Well, that's about it for now. I'll be back in a month :)

2 Months Old

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't officially introduced myself on the blog yet, Mommy is quite busy (I don't know what she's busy doing???) and just now let me have the chance to write my own blog. She says my big sister used to write them to document how she was growing at each month. So, I think I'll do the same.

I'm now 2 months old & getting more used to this crazy world I was brought into....initially against my will, but I'm kind of diggin' it these days! I've started really enjoying my bath time, and now it even is the main thing that soothes me late in the evening. Although I always cry when they take me out of the bath! (alot.....what can I say, it's COLD when I get out!).

I've started smiling alot. My first social smiles were happening around 6 weeks, but I didn't do it too much yet. By the time I was two months, I was smiling a good bit more. And now, we've even caught some on the camera.

Mommy has nicknamed me her princess & the pea. Something about a story about a princess that was so particular, she could feel a pea through a ton of mattresses. Mommy says I am particular like that....like if I'm comfy in one position while you're holding me, if you change it ever so slightly, I will not like it! But what's wrong with that?? I'm just a girl who knows what I like :)

She also thinks I'm funny about sleeping at night. Some nights I'll sleep 7-8 hours, even threw a 9 hour stretch in there for good measure recently. BUT I can easily wake up after 4-5 hours of sleep. Very unpredictable, I am! I just like to keep that Mommy of mine guessing! She thinks it's good that I sleep for long stretches sometimes & she thinks they are happening more and more.....with less of the 3am/4am variety. It just baffles her a bit, she calls me a sporadic sleeper. She says my big sister just kept incrementing, very little backtracking. Again, fun to keep her on her toes!!

Mommy says I wasn't the happiest camper for a few weeks due to some acid reflux, colic, etc.....She thinks she & Daddy just don't have easy babies. But they say I don't cry as loud as my big sister & that I've really started to be a much happier baby thanks to getting older & getting on some meds! Now, I'm pretty content unless I'm hungry or tired. Mommy feels a little guilty that she has to let me cry in my swing or bouncy seat, and she didn't do that much with my sister. But her other mommy friends of 2 kids says it is building flexibility in the second born. She hopes so! She wishes she could always pick me right up, but I hope to prove to her in the coming months that I'm a happy baby and can handle it :)

I guess that's all for now. I'll be back soon (especially since mommy's so late on posting this, I'll be 3 months later this week!! YIKES!!!)

More Pics - Of My 2 Year Old Cutie Pie

Mackenzie & I are sitting at home in our pajamas this morning, listening to the rain pour outside the living room. She's enjoying a little Sesame Street and I'm blogging. Our playdate got canceled due to the rain, but this is actually just what I needed. We may not have another chance to lounge around lazily all morning long, just the two of us.

So, while we hang out on the couch, I wanted to post a few more pictures of our photo shoot - of the ones just of Mackenzie. I just love so many of these photos. I feel like we got more good ones than when I try to take pictures because she had both Brannon & I entertaining her while the photographer flashed away!
